To develop students' oral communication, reading, and writing skills in the French language. Students are taught a range of specific language structures, they then use it in a variety of contexts. This reviewing and re-using process is essential and natural in language study. The classes at Go Beyond emphasize heavily on listening and reading. As students continue their studies in French, they would gain an appreciation of French literature and an understanding of French societies in the world. As language and culture are inseparable, the cultural study of French-language regions would be integrated into daily instruction.
Students will further explore the French language and continue to develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. For example, they will identify a range of listening comprehension strategies, and use them before, during, and after listening to understand oral French text as well as exchange information, ideas, and opinions with the teacher and their peers in structured and guided spoken interactions about matters of personal interests and academic topics.
Students are continuing to develop their French language skills. For example, students will expand their repertoire of expressions for stating opinions, including the position of object pronouns. They will use a variety of vocabulary-acquisition strategies before, during, and after reading to determine or confirm the meaning of new, unfamiliar, or recently learned words and expressions. As well as, communicating their meaning clearly, using parts of speech appropriately and following conventions for correct spelling, word order, and punctuation.
As students enter Intermediate French they will continue to expand their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. They will continue to apply their language learning strategies. Students at Go Beyond will further explore their French language skills while interacting in French for a variety of purposes and using appropriate strategies.
As students continue their studies in French, they would gain an appreciation of French literature and an understanding of French societies in the world.
